about

For International Nurses Day 2021, I partnered with Claps that Count, Toast+Jam, Forsman&Bodenfors, and the Canadian Nurses Foundation to create a new track in support of all the nurses who are working so tirelessly during the pandemic.

“This Is War” is a song I wrote, performed, and produced, with the help of Toast+Jam, to help our nurses. All streaming proceeds will benefit the Canadian Nurses Foundation Covid-19 fund, so please give it a listen or two (or more😉) and support our front line workers.

lyrics

VERSE 1
You’re riding off to battle and I don’t know what to say
I’ll stay and watch the homestead and keep the dark at bay
I’m hoping for some better days where we will meet again
But you’re headed for the fight and I’m laid up on the mend

PRECHORUS 1
And yeah I’ll try and help you, but I wish I could do more
But I’m not made for battle, and baby this is war

CHORUS
This is war
You’re on the frontline
We’re on the sidelines cheering you on
We’re cheering you on

This is war
And you’re on the frontline
We’re on the sidelines cheering you on
We’re cheering you on

VERSE 2
I have spent a year praying “please be over soon”
But I’m sick of all this waiting, and there’s more that I can do
Cause though I’m not a hero there is still a part to play
I will fight to help the heroes every day

PRECHORUS 2
So here we stand together, lend your voices to the call

CHORUS

BRIDGE
War is just a word it doesn’t capture all the pain
In every day for twenty hours you are caught up in the fray
And there is no thank you we can offer there are no words that we can say
To make your sacrifice worth the price you’ve paid
