about

There was a time when I fantasized about living in a cave. That sounds dark, but I’m talking about a nice cave. I’d really make it my own. I was pretty sick of lots of aspects of society and I was dreaming about escaping. But I think there are two types of escapism. There’s running away from the things you think are wrong with your life, and there’s running to go find what you’re lacking.

"Mountains,” is about the second one.

It celebrates the beauty and calm that I wasn’t getting enough. I hope it can help you find what you’re looking for.

lyrics

I need beauty and nothing else
While I sit here by myself
Underneath some great big tree
Where I can forget about everything

When it rains I don’t mind
I’ve got nothing here but time
And yeah I find I’m never alone
There’s a story under every stone

I am tired of feeling tired
And never sleeping through the night, mmm
It might be nice to wake up with the light

So bring me up to the mountains
Where I can live in a cave for the rest of my days
The rest of my days
So bring me up to the mountains
'Cause I am trying to save what is left of my days
The rest of my days

I’m not angry, I’m not afraid
I’m not running for the hills to pray
Oh no I want some time for me
Just hoping to find a bit of clarity

If I could clear my mind of worries
Stop feeling sorry for myself

'Cause I’m tired
And never sleeping through the night, oh
It might be nice to wake up with the light

So bring me up to the mountains
Where I can live in a cave for the rest of my days
The rest of my days
So bring me up to the mountains
Cause I am trying to save what is left of my days
The rest of my days

Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh

So bring me up to the mountains
Where I can live in a cave for the rest of my days
Bring me up to the mountains
Where I can live in a cave for the rest of my days
Bring me up to the mountains
Where I can live in a cave for the rest of my days
Bring me up to the mountains
Cause I am trying to save what is left of my days
The rest of my days
